Services

What we do

Fighting 4 Freedom believes in second chances. People who are incarcerated are faced with paying for attorneys or advocates to fight for their freedom. We would like to lift that burden by offering a less expensive alternative or providing pro bono services.

01

Publicize

Highlight and elevate cases of injustice and wrongful convictions. Assist with social media campaigns.

Attention is leverage. A case that nobody is looking at moves at the speed of the docket. A case with a public record behind it moves faster.

02

Support families

Work with regaining freedom of an incarcerated individual. Consult on strategic planning for a case.

Families are usually the only ones still fighting after year ten. We help them decide what to pursue, in what order, and what it will realistically take.

03

Advocate

Assist with preparing families for parole hearings.

There is a right and a wrong way to speak to a parole board. We prepare families and support letters so a hearing is not lost on presentation.

04

Petition

Work with creating clemency, pardon, and parole packets.

The packet is the case. Programming records, disciplinary history, medical need, release plan, and the letters that make a governor's office read past page one.

How a case moves

From letter to filing

We are a small organization. Being clear about the process is how we stay honest with families about what happens next.

Step 01

You reach out

A family member, a friend, an attorney, or the person inside writes to us with the conviction, the sentence, and what has already been tried.

Step 02

We review the record

Sentence structure, parole eligibility, time served, institutional record, and what avenue is actually still open. Some cases belong with an attorney, and we say so.

Step 03

We build the packet

Clemency petition, pardon supplement, or parole submission, assembled with the supporting documentation and letters that give a decision-maker a reason to act.

Step 04

We keep pushing

Filing is not the end. Publicity, follow-up, hearing preparation, and refiling when a board says no. Several of our releases came after a denial.

What we are not
A law firm

Fighting4Freedom was formed to provide relief to the poor, distressed, and underprivileged affected by the justice system.

In practice that means people convicted of crimes they did not commit, people whose sentences ran far past what the conduct called for, people sentenced as children into adult time, and people who have done everything a system says it wants and are still being held.

It also means families who cannot pay. Cost should not decide who gets an advocate, which is why our work is offered at a reduced rate or pro bono.

Support our work

This work is free to the family. It is not free to do.

Please consider supporting Fighting4Freedom with a tax deductible donation. Your generous support makes it possible to advocate for the unjustly imprisoned.
