Before you write
People who are incarcerated are faced with paying for attorneys or advocates to fight for their freedom. We would like to lift that burden by offering a less expensive alternative or providing pro bono services. Cost is discussed openly before any work begins, and no family is turned away for being unable to pay.
Fighting 4 Freedom is an advocacy organization, not a law firm. We prepare clemency, pardon, and parole packets, support families through hearings, and publicize cases. Where a case needs counsel, we say so, and we work alongside attorneys on several of our current cases.
We are based in Virginia and most of our cases are in the Virginia Department of Corrections, but we advocate for cases nationwide and have worked federal clemency petitions and cases in Ohio, Florida, and Georgia.
Yes. Research, writing, records requests, social media, and event help are all useful. Tell us what you can do and how much time you have, and we will tell you honestly whether we can put it to work.
Longer than anyone wants. Parole decisions can turn in months. Clemency petitions can sit for years, and several of our releases came only after an earlier denial. We will not promise you a timeline we cannot control.
